Our goal is to provide dentistry that is natural, functional, and beautiful. We replace existing dental crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FIT A DENTAL CROWN?
Completeing a dental crown typically requires two visits to our office. On the first visit, we will remove any decay or fractures, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown.
On the second visit, we remove the temporary crown and then try in the final crown for fit. Finally, we cement the crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.
WHAT CAN DENTAL CROWNS DO?
Where damage to a person’s teeth is more severe, it cannot be restored with a simple filling. The tooth requires the restoration with a crown. A crown is a way of fixing the tooth that looks natural and restores the tooth so that it is long lasting.
Crowns are a reliable solution for dental problems caused through accidents, decay, or wear and tear. Sometimes a crown may require a root canal treatment prior to the crown, but not always. Material for dental crowns is either high-grade porcelain or a material called zirconia, both of which are long lasting and natural looking.
Crowns can be used to correct damage from trauama, large broken fillings, severe decay, or excessive wear. However, when the tooth is excessively broken with little to hold the crown, we may recommend dental implants as an alternative option.
Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth. Placing crowns on sensitive teeth relieves pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. In front teeth, older fillings can discolor over time affecting the appearance and also weaken functionally. Porcelain crowns help to reinforce the weakened tooth when there is large defects of the front teeth are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not.
